Where History Feels Like Home

Nestled along Kentucky’s iconic Bourbon Trail, The Aldenberg Hotel was designed as a place where history, character, and hospitality come together. The interiors draw inspiration from the building’s past and the surrounding region, creating a space that feels warm, storied, and intentionally lived in, like a gracious Southern home passed down through generations.

“We wanted it to feel very Kentucky and old world, like stepping back in time. Luxurious, but warm and full of character.”

Equestrian influences, rich wood tones, and antique-inspired details reference everything from Churchill Downs to the rolling countryside. The design blends true vintage furnishings with newly manufactured custom pieces, creating an environment that feels collected over time rather than designed all at once.

“The goal was to mix new and antique pieces so seamlessly that you can’t tell which is which.”

Kimball Hospitality partnered closely with Single Barrel Group to bring the vision to life, developing custom beds, dressers, nightstands, and seating inspired by

historic references. Each piece was carefully scaled and engineered to meet the demands of hospitality use while maintaining the charm and character of antique furniture. The guestrooms were individually curated, creating spaces that feel collected rather than uniform. Multiple rounds of finish development ensured the right balance of age and patina, with hand-applied distressing, carved details, soft beige and taupe undertones, and subtle gold antiquing contributing to a timeless, authentic appearance. Modern functionality was seamlessly integrated, with hidden charging stations built into nightstands to support modern guest expectations without compromising the historic aesthetic.

Sustainability was thoughtfully woven into the design through the reuse of locally sourced vintage furnishings. Select furniture pieces, accessories, and lighting were upcycled, reupholstered, and refinished, honoring Kentucky’s craftsmanship while reducing environmental impact.

During installation, Kimball Hospitality’s field service team worked onsite to fine tune details and make real-time adjustments as needed, ensuring proper fit and

functionality as the space came together.

The result is a hotel experience that feels authentic, inviting, and entirely its own. From the moment guests arrive, the furniture reinforces a sense of history and

place. Since opening, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently asking where they can purchase the furniture themselves. It is a testament to the power of thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and collaboration.
